Announcing SRE from Home – Live Community Event

Catchpoint announces SRE from Home – a live community event on June 5th to explore how Site Reliability Engineers are adapting to 'all-remote' operations.

In a matter of months, we have all been forced to redefine the world we live in. Office life seems like a distant memory as stay-at-home orders have forced large parts of the workplace to go remote. We’re thankful for the people that have been keeping the world moving, from grocery store workers to nurses to mail carriers to IT teams who continue to keep the services they deliver up and running.

When we set out to run our annual Site Reliability Engineering survey in February, we had no idea the new reality SREs would be facing in the coming months. When the dust settled, we looked through the results of the February survey and realized we couldn’t release the results without addressing how SRE has evolved this year under crummy circumstances. SREs are now challenged with how to ensure reliability of the world’s brands from their living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

That’s why Catchpoint decided to host SRE from Home – a live community event on June 5, 2-4 pm ET – and you’re invited!

What’s on the Agenda?

SRE From Home (SREfh) will explore how Site Reliability Engineers are adapting to ‘all-remote’ operations. This event provides a forum where we can learn from each other and talk through shared experiences. We want to hear from SREs themselves about the challenges they are facing.

SREfh is all about community. There will be a Q&A panel, networking, workshops, and a toast to SREs! Here’s what to expect:

  • A killer lineup of SREs who will discuss new best practices, frameworks, and roadmaps for practicing SRE successfully when your engineers – not just systems – are distributed.
  • A Q&A panel that will focus on how have SREs have adapted goals, processes, and communication to navigate ‘all-remote’ operations. What’s worked well, what hasn’t, and how the SRE practice and SRE teams will change moving forward.
  • An SRE Mindfulness Talk will provide SREs with tips to improve mental wellbeing during a period of isolation and heightened stress and anxiety.
  • The event will conclude with a networking session and a toast to the community’s unity and resilience.

We’re on a mission to find out what it means to be an SRE in a time of ‘all-remote’ IT and we’re inviting you to take a few minutes to complete this anonymous survey. Not only are we donating $5 per submission to Open Sourcing Mental Illness (OSMI), but we’ll be using the data during the Q&A panel!
